New Contract For Anchor Glass/Updated***
The strike at Anchor Glass in Zanesville is over. United Steel Workers Union Communications Director Wayne Ranick says a new deal was agreed to Tuesday night. Ranick says workers and the company agreed to a new two year pact, retroactive to September 1st. He says workers will get a 50 cent an hour raise in each year of the deal. Ranick says one of the big issue was health care and it remains the same as the last deal, with the exception of some changes for new hires. Ranick says this deal is in line with other glass makers in the country. There are around 65 employees affected by this new deal at the Zanesville plant. Anchor Glass General Counsel Jim Warner says the company is pleased the strike is now ended. Warner says Anchor will begin phased-in transition of USW members into the Zanesville facility on Monday September 26th as it brings the facility back on line. Ranick says this pact includes all 9 Anchor Glass Plants in the United States.
