Markwell Sentenced

A Zanesville man is sentenced in a case involving multiple sex related charges. 51-year-old Alan Markwell appeared before Judge Mark Fleegle in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for one count of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition. Markwell was found guilty by a jury in August. He had previously been charged with seven counts of rape and twelve counts of gross sexual imposition, but some of those charges were dropped prior to trial. According to the prosecutor’s office the incidents occurred between June 2008 and June 2010. Judge Fleegle also ordered that Markwell be classified as a tier three sex offender.
