James W. Brown (November 10, 1922 – October 22, 2011)

James (Jim) William Brown, 88, of Zanesville, passed away at 7:42 PM Saturday October 22, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
Jim was born November 10, 1922 in Zanesville the son of the late Grace Minnie Showers and Paul Bernard Brown. He was married to Alice Margaret Rolls from 1954 until she passed away in 2006. He graduated from Lash High School and was a former member of the Eagles Lodge. He was an Army Veteran of World War II receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star and serving in the 103rd Division in the European Theater. He retired as an engineer for the WHIZ television station. Jim was an avid fisherman, an amateur radio operator and he and his wife enjoyed traveling the back country roads of Ohio.
He is survived by one daughter, Alice Widney Brown (New York City) and two sons, James (Shirley) William Brown, Jr. of Dayton and Franklin (Jo Ellen) B. Brown of Tallahassee. He also has two grandchildren: Alicia Joy Brown and Adam James Brown of Tallahassee. Additionally he is survived by a brother, Paul and several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Mary Anne Patterson and Betty Lou Hurd, and two brothers: Russell and Robert.
The family is very grateful for the friendship and care given by Carol and Randy Beach and Tina and Wayne Moreland.
Honoring the family’s wishes there will be no visiting hours and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
