JERRY PETE CHORJEL (October 4, 1938 – November 9, 2011)

Jerry “Pete†Chorjel,73, of South River Road, Zanesville, passed away 6:17 pm Nov. 9, 2011 at Genesis Health Care.
Pete was born October 4, 1938 in Zanesville the son of the late Chester B. and Winifred (Hoppstatter) Chorjel. He worked for the Ohio Power Plant in Philo and he retired in 2000 from the Roseville Middle School where he worked as a custodian. Pete was a member of the Philo United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Zanesville Bowling Assoc., former member of the Philo/Duncan Falls Lions Club and Duncan Falls American Legion Post. He served his country in the US Army.
Pete is survived by his wife Barbara (Emler) Chorjel whom he married March 4, 1967; his Daughter Karen Elaine Chorjel of the home; his brother David Chorjel of Zanesville; his sister Margaret Hartman Zanesville; a half-brother Bernard Stewart of Florida and his K-9 companion Max.
In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and W. Herman Chorjel; sisters Catherine Chorjel, half-sister Evelyn Hartman and his half-brothers Claude E. Stewart Jr. and Thomas Stewart.
Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday Nov 11 at the Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls. Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday at the Philo United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Priest officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors provided by George Selsam Post # 1058.
