Lura B. Smith (June 2, 1918 – April 20, 2012)

ZANESVILLE

Lura B. Smith, 93, of Zanesville passed away on Friday April 20, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. She was born on June 2, 1918 to the late Loren and Ethel Anderson Ralph. Her mother died when she was three years of age and later in life her father married Helen Coffey Ralph, a devoted step mother. Lura loved to play Bingo with her children and many wonderful friends she made over the years. She was truly loved and adored by all who knew her. She had a generous Heart and a joyful Spirit. No words can express the loss of this Saint filled Soul of which we called Mom. We briefly mourn her death, for her life we will celebrate forever.
She is survived by six sons, David (Nancy) Smith of St. Mary’s, W.Va., Jack (Irma) Smith of Zanesville, Michael (Myra) Smith of South Carolina, Larry (Vonda) Smith of Zanesville, and twins Robert (Terri) Smith of Newark and Roger Smith of Zanesville. Three daughters ,Linda (Tom) Wheeler of Zanesville, Margaret (Junior) Guthrie of Zanesville, and Barbara (Robert) Norris of Zanesville, a daughter-in-law June Smith and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and step-mother she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years George E. Smith whom she married February 19, 1936. Brothers, Ivan, Raymond, and Frank Ralph, a sister Lena (Ralph) Binckley. Step-brothers Paul, John and Pat Coffey, step-sister Mary Coffee Ross, a son Douglas E. Smith, a daughter Karen L. Clapper, Granddaughters Angela Smith and Shanda (Searl) Angelo, and a grandson Michael Smith.
The family would like to express thanks to the loving wonderful nurses at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital and Genesis Hospice Morrison House as well as Dr. Kalchick and Dr. Hbberberger.
Calling hours will be Tuesday April 24 from 1-3pm at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating.
