W. Joyce West (July 15, 1920 – September 14, 2014)

COME CELEBRATE THE HOMECOMING OF W. JOYCE MADDEN WEST, 94, of ZANESVILLE. Joyce finally made it on time to Sunday school class when she entered her Heavenly Home at 8:53 A.M. Sunday, September 14, 2014. She was born July 15, 1920 at Soldier, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Pierce and Loraine Vincent Madden. She was a pre-school teacher, a longtime member of the Northside Church Of The Nazarene, past president of the Missionary World Society, Sunday School Teacher for over fifty years, Vacation Bible School Director and Supervisor for the U.S. Census Bureau. Joyce also was a surrogate mother for many children, caretaker for the family, a volunteer for many non profit organizations and a 4-H Advisor for thirty five years. Joyce was a “prayer warrior†whose sole purpose in life was to lead others to Christ.
Surviving are five daughters, Faith LaFollette, and Joy Gammon, both of Zanesville, Joan (Tony) Spiegel of Mt. Vernon, Jerrie (David) Strickling of Westerville and Lisa (Jerry) Trotti of Dublin; two sons, Bernard Vincent (Lenora) West and Tim (Becky) West all of Zanesville; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and a brother, Keith (Sharon) Madden of Newark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard E. West who died in 2004; and two brothers, Harold and Ted Madden.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Northside Church Of The Nazarene, 739 Francis Street, Zanesville with Dr. Rev. James Miller and Rev. Scottie Robinson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bernard at Zanesville Memorial Park, Zanesville.
