Family Celebrates Zanesville's First Baby Of 2010!

While many people were watching the ball drop on New Year’s Eve, a local woman in Genesis-Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville gave birth to the first baby of 2010.

Nicole Barr says she was in labor for nearly 15 hours before giving birth to her baby girl. The little bundle of joy weighs in at 7lbs, 9 oz and is the first baby of new year delivered in Zanesville.  Nicole says her baby wasn’t due til January 10th, but friends and family were hoping for a new year’s baby.

"They kept telling me I was going to have the new year’s baby, everyone said you are going to have the new year’s baby and I did," laughs Nicole Barr as she held her baby girl.

With her husband, Caleb Barr, by her side Nicole delivered her baby at 2:49 PM on January 1, 2010. She says Dr. Linda Swan and the staff at Genesis-Bethesda hospital were also very excited to deliver her baby girl.

"They gave us a nice little basket full of all kinds of different goodies, the auxiliary ladies they made up a basket too, so that was really nice, the hospital was wonderful," says Barr.

Nicole says her baby girl is alert and healthy. This is the first child for Nicole and Caleb and she says she can’t imagine a better way to start 2010.
