The Boondocks Makes Top 50

In McConnelsville down a long street and on the right is a restaurant called the Boondocks. It opened in 2007.
"The Boondocks just kind of happened one day. It was a pipe dream we talked about it and talked about it " said owner Bobby Bedette.
Then in 2009 Bobby was contacted by the Food Network to be on the show Diners,Drive- Ins and Dives. At first he thought it was friends playing a joke, but it was real and the show taping happened.
"We decided to do a private showing. We invited some friends and family to be our customers. It was just amazing" said Bedette.
Two years after the taping Burdette found out his restaurant beat out 70 restaurants and made the top 50. This meant they have a chance to be seen on the network.
"It brought so much business to the community and it gave the community something to look forward to" he said.
The restaurant has people traveling for their food. They even have people coming from Florida. Burdette thanks word of mouth and the community for the success.
He does have a unique menu and his ribs take 16 hours to make. It is not only unique food but also unique decorations. The atmosphere is meant to start conversations and there are even jokes incorporated into the decor.
"There is really no sense to it. We started out we wanted each wall and section to be different" jokes Burdette.
The Boondocks is opened 7 days a week and may soon extend their hours.
