Local Educator Retires After 42 Years

A longtime Zanesville educator and civic leader is retiring from years of serving others…

Larry Denbow has been the government teacher at Bishop Rosecrans High School for the last 42 years, and he also led the school’s Key Club. History teacher Mark Baker said Denbow is the one who inspired him.

"But, he’s been a mentor, a colleague and a friend of mine for all of that period of time, and I think that it’s his teaching ability that best exemplifies what makes the rosecrans faculty as great as it in fact is," said Baker.

Denbow was honored by friends and family at a surprise party Sunday afternoon.

"I mean, this is nice. It was a surprise, I didn’t expect it… Believe it or not! I had no idea! But yea, 42 years is nice, you know. And I enjoyed every last one of them," said Denbow.

Denbow said there’s only one thing he wants his students to remember…

"Yea… Follow everything that I told you to do!"
