Downtown Newark played host to Licking County’s largest annual event…
Newark’s Kiwanis Club hosted the 29th annual Newark Strawberry Festival. Plenty of rides, games, food and live entertainment were offered to those who attended this weekend.
"A lovely day today. We have strawberry items all throughout the grounds here. Rides for the kids. I mean, not much more that you could ask for from a kid’s perspective as far as having fun, and it’s for kids too," said Kiwanis Member Lynn Fawcett.
A Strawberry Festival Pageant was held for girls from kindergarten through 12th grade. Organizers said the weather didn’t cooperate, but everyone still enjoyed it.
"This year was too cold, but they were still there! We has 62 entrees, and they were all beautiful," said Kiwanis Member Bob Cullen.
Kiwanis members said planning for next year’s festival will begin on Monday.
