Auction Raises Money For Animal Shelter

The animal shelter is moving forward after a rough couple months.
The Muskingum County Animal Shelter hosted their annual auction at OU-Z in an effort to raise money. Thanks to support of the community, the auction usually brings in 15 to 25 thousand dollars each year.
"Every single penny that we raise here tonight goes directly into the care of our animals and we are an adoptable, no-kill shelter so we have a lot of animals to take care of and every penny goes towards their care and that’s why tonight is so important.," said Shelter Board Director Stephanie Hill.
The shelter is in the final stages of locating a new director. The hiring of the director is the start of moving the shelter forward in a positive and fresh direction.
"We really want to get more involved with the community, we want to reach out into the community even more so in terms of education. Educating the community on spay and neuter programs and even what the shelter does, what we’re there for and what services we provide. We’re really excited to get the new director on board here in the next few weeks so that they can take some of these ideas and run with them," said Hill.
The theme of the auction, "It’s a Small World After All", reminded bidders that any small thing done makes a huge difference in the life of a shelter pet.
