Annual Crop Walk For Hunger

Local community member’s took the phrase "walk a mile in someone else’s shoes" to heart on Sunday.
For more than 30 years in Zanesville, people have participated in the Crop Walk, it is designed to recognize the long trips that people around the world often have to take in order to find food or drinking water.
"It’s getting harder and harder for us to do this because people around here can’t relate to being hungry and not having food and water," said Co-Coordinator, Gwen Medenhall.
The money raised at these interfaith walks goes towards disaster relief, refugee assistance, self help and development for the hungry and impoverished globally.
"We’ve given them seeds for trees in Africa and in third world countries," said Co-Coordinator, Jerry Sutton. They can make medicine from them and use it for food crop does a lot they are always out there doing something."
Twenty five percent of the proceeds made at the walk also goes back to the local community. In Zanesville the money is divided between the Salvation Army and Christ’s Table. The Crop Walk is still taking donations through the end of October if you would like to help. Organizer’s say you can visit the 1st Christian Church on Dresden Road for more information.
