Ice Jam Watch Underway

There is a problem on the Muskingum River in Zanesville. State and local officials are keeping an eye on an ice jam that has built up at Putnam Landing. Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Jeff Jadwin says this week’s cold temperature is helping form the ice that has jammed. He says one of the concerns is if water begins to back up behind the ice jam which could cause the need for evacuations. Jadwin says at this point there is no immediate cause for concern…but if a problem develops area residents will be immediately notified.
