Port Authority Executive Director Resigns

The Executive Director of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority is resigning.
After nearly five years on the job Mike Jacoby is stepping down. His resignation is effective February 13, and at that time he will start his new job as the Shale Energy Director for the Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth.
“It allows me to do some new and exciting things, and I look forward to the opportunity,” Jacoby said. “At the same time this has been a good experience for me. I think I’m leaving the port authority in a good position.”
Jacoby said he will help the Port Authority during the transition phase. He feels that he is leaving Port Authority in a good position going forward.
“I feel confident that we’ve got an intelligent group of people who are committed to the betterment of the community. There will be bumps in the road but they will not be big problems,” Jacoby said. “Anytime you’ve got new personnel that’s learning there will be some hiccups, but I think the foundation is strong.”
Now the Port Authority’s board will begin the search for a new executive director. Jacoby said that search could last several months. He adds that this job will allow him and his family stay in the area.
“Fortunately It’s a job, when I’m not on the road I can be working right here in Muskingum County,” Jacoby said. “Our family can still stay here. We’re happy here. It’s a nice community.”
