Meth Lab Discovered Near Frazeysburg *Update*

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says his deputies are investigating the discovery of a meth lab Tuesday near Frazeysburg. It happened on Scout Road. Detective Sergeant Todd Kanavel is in charge of the investigation and he says a farmer found over 100 16 ounce bottles with white powder inside them and called authorities. Detective Kanavel says most of the bottles were used up, but some of them could have been active and a possible threat to explode or catch fire. Kanavel says someone picked the large structure to use as a meth lab since it was secluded. The clean-up – which involves crews in protective suits – started at 9 a.m. and is expected to continue until 9:00 p.m. No arrests have been made but an investigation is now underway to find a suspect. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Zanesville Police, Perry County Sheriff’s Department and the Frazeysburg and Dresden Fire Departments.
