A Muskingum County Resident Awarded $50,000—Could You Be Next?

ZANESVILLE, OH—This week, the Muskingum County community is celebrating the contributions of extraordinary individuals through the Make Muskingum Home Scholarship.

This program, a partnership between the Muskingum County Community Foundation and the J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation, recognizes the hard work and dedication of local leaders who are making a lasting impact.

The Make Muskingum Home Scholarship Program is shining a spotlight on 13 outstanding recipients this year. These individuals have gone above and beyond to improve the lives of those in Muskingum County.

Beth Fox, Straker Foundation Special Events Director, looks forward to surprising recipients.

“This is why I love my job. This one-week alone fuels me through the rest of the year,” Fox said. “This is one of the most exciting and emotional weeks that I have.”

The recipients have demonstrated a consistent and unwavering commitment to the Muskingum community, often through their jobs and volunteer work. One of the lucky 13, Kayln West, has a deep connection to Muskingum County. Born and raised here, she is a proud graduate of Tri-Valley High School and has spent the past five years serving the community as a physical therapist after completing her college education.

“A lot of work went into the application process,” West said. “It asked a lot of detail about how you got here, your current employment situation, and how you plan to be involved in the community in the future.”

The program aims to enhance the Muskingum economy and population by attracting and retaining families in the community. The goal is to make Muskingum a better place to live, work, and grow.
