A New Boat Ramp Coming To Muskingum?

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Are you a boater in the area that loves spending time out on the river, but hate towing your boat so far to a ramp? Well you might not have to soon.
The Muskingum Riverway Advocacy Council met Monday with the County Commissioners Office to discuss building a new boat ramp near the Philo area. Muskingum Riverway Advocacy Council Member, Pat Hennessey said this is a very busy section of the river, and he believes it would do a lot of good for the community to have a ramp there.
“We can get boats in and out. As you know, every ten miles you got a dam to deal with. So, we need a place to get boats in, down in that area. That is probably one of the busiest areas on the river,” said Hennessey.
Hennessey said they have got a long process ahead of them, to get the boat ramp in, but they think the meeting went very well with the commissioners and believe they can get it done. They’re still searching for an area they could build the ramp, but Hennessey said they have got a few locations in mind.
“Yeah, I think it went very well. They will contact the state and find out what needs to be done from there. Then we can start working on it. It’s kind of one of those things that has to start with the Commissioners here and they need to contact the state and then the state will get involved in it also,” added Hennessey.
Hennessey said a boat ramp here would benefit a lot of people and it would open up a lot of opportunity on the river.
