A “Pawsome” Holiday Auction

ZANESVILLE, OH –PAWS of Muskingum County is preparing for their annual auction.

As the holiday season approaches, it’s important to recognize the significance of controlling the pet population. The spread of disease among stray animals has become a serious issue, so taking proactive measures this holiday season can help reduce the problem in the long run.

Tammy Jones, Paws auction chair, is hoping for a good turnout.

“Last year we spayed and neutered 2,300 animals, dogs and cats. This year we’re going to reach closer to 4,000. And just like everything else, the cost of that has skyrocketed,” Jones said. “So, we’re hoping that through the auction and through some of our other fundraisers we’re able to raise the money we need to continue our services.”

Paws is a nonprofit spay and neuter organization that aims to transform the lives of dogs, cats, and their owners. The annual auction will go towards their mission to help them continue to provide low-cost spay and neuter services and rehoming for pets in need.

Sue Lake, Paws volunteer is excited to move forward with the auction this year.

“I think we have a better understanding to do more this year,” Lake said. “During that whole day, we will have a silent auction, a chance auction, a half-and-half, a little store for pets to buy pet things, a bake shop, and a live auctioneer for some of the bigger things that we have.

The Auction will be held at the Welcome Center on December 14th from 11a.m.-3p.m. There are various winnings, ranging from toys to ski trips.  Head over to the PAWS website for more information.
