A ‘Winding Road’ of Art Features South Eastern Ohio Artists

Seiler’s Studio hosted a winding road of art pieces.

The ‘Foot by Foot A-Z show featured 78 works of art representing artists from Zanesville to Athens including Muskingum, Perry, Morgan, and Athens County. Each piece was unsigned and President of the Artist Colony of Zanesville David Mitzel said it helps local artists get noticed for their work.

“It gives an opportunity for people who may not be well known to be appreciated on merits of what they have done, what they have created, rather than the name they have,” said Mitzel.

A special guest juror made the trip from Columbus where she teaches at Columbus College of Art and Design. Julie Abijanac named first, second, and third place as well as the honorable mention. She said it’s a great experience seeing all different types of work in one place.

“It’s exciting to see what’s happening and it’s great to have the ability to be open and accepting of all works that are being made and enjoying all of that,” said Abijanac.

Each work of art cost just $100 and $50 of that will benefit an art organization of the artist’s choice, while the other $50 will help the Artist Colony of Zanesville to promote future events, including a ceramic contest they hope to begin next year.
