AAA Has Winter Driving Tips

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-This recent blast of winter weather may have motorists worried about making even short road trips.
The American Automobile Association wants to help drivers brush up on winter safety tips. Spokeswoman Kimberly Schwind wants to remind motorists to prepare for the worst.
“It might take help longer to get to you in adverse weather conditions. Always a good idea to pack that emergency kit just in case you have to wait a little bit for help. AAA recommends that you should have that emergency kit beefed up for winter, so now’s a good time to fill that winter emergency roadside kit with blankets, extra clothes for everybody in your family, maybe some extra boots, gloves, hats. Maybe bring water with you.”
Winter weather and freezing conditions can also do damage to your vehicle’s ability to run properly.
“If your car has been out all night you might realize that it’s a little cold in the morning, you might have to scrape off all the snow and the ice. Make sure to clear your car completely, also keep in mind that it takes a good battery that’s fully charged to start your vehicle when it’s sop cold outside, so anytime we see temperatures get down to 20 degrees and below, we see some batteries fail.”, Schwind warned.
Schwind stresses that now is the right time to check your car battery’s charge.
