Abandoned Dog Needs Help

An abandoned dog needs your help. It was found starving and injured on the East Side of Zanesville.

Ten days ago, Teresa Arnold first found the dog that she calls "Twiggy" laying along the side of Green Street. "Twiggy" was taken to a veterinarian who said the dog is nearly 100 pounds underweight and in desperate need of medical treatment.

"Skin and bone, just pure skin and bone," explained Arnold. "She could hardly walk, she hobbled. When I got her in on a blanket she just laid, she had no ambition what so ever."

Arnold volunteered to pay for heart worm treatments and all up-to-date vaccinations, however "Twiggy" is still in need of surgery for a torn ACL, which Arnold said is estimated to be a couple thousand dollars. Unable to ask local shelters for support due to over crowding Arnold is now speaking out for others animals in "Twiggy’s" condition.

"Since we found her there’s been other reports of animals left in houses," said Arnold. "They are in backyards starving and, you know, if these people didn’t have a place to take her because the animals shelter is crowded then it needs to be expanded."

Arnold is asking for donations to be put towards "Twiggy’s" recovery.

Donation Locations:

Century National Bank in the Sunrise Center
Don’s Cafe
Buckett’s Place
Winerak Market

All unused donations will go to the local animal shelter to benefit other abused and neglected animals.
