Adams Pins Bischoff To Win National Championship
New Lexington senior Matt Adams has another accomplishment to add to his already stellar season; a national championship. Â Adams defeated Norton’s Mitch Bischoff to win this year’s senior division NHSCA National Championship.
“I got my mindset right and went in there and wrestled my match and did what I had to do,” Adams stated. “I’m happy for the school, the community and everybody that supported me.”
To get to this match, Adams had to beat the odds. Â He faced 2 Division-1 recruits, but that didn’t faze him. Â He went on to the finals looking for one more win to add to his already historic season.
After the first period, Adams led 2-1. Â Adams went on to pin Bischoff in a similar way as the state championship on March 5. Â “I tried to something similar,” Adams said. Â “He’s a good kid, but I just went out there and wrestled my match.”
