Adopt-a-Child Christmas Program Seeks Donors
ZANESVILLE, OH – Christmas is the season of giving, and the Adopt-a-Child program is giving you the chance to make a child’s holiday brighter.
Muskingum County Adult and Child Protective Services is looking for generous individuals to purchase gifts for local children this Christmas. Each child in the program creates a wish list filled with items that could make their Christmas morning unforgettable. From toys to clothing, these gifts will go directly to kids involved with children services. Donors can choose the gender of the child they’d like to shop for and will receive the list to guide their gift selections.
“I feel that this program is so important because we have children that are in need. A lot of these children have come from hard places, and they’ve experienced some hardships in their life. We know that the holidays can be difficult, especially for kiddos who aren’t able to be with their biological family during the holidays. Between $60 and $75 is the recommended amount to spend. It isn’t a child’s full Christmas, but it certainly helps supplement,” Human Resources and Public Information Officer Melissa Wood said.
This program has been a cherished tradition in Muskingum County for years. Community members have consistently stepped up to bring smiles to countless children during the Christmas season.
“From an agency standpoint, when we see children having a good holiday, it’s important to us. We are responsible for these children, and we’re responsible for helping the families. When we’re able to see a little bit of joy being spread into those families and into those children’s lives, it warms our heart. Our agency is very grateful for the community and when the community pitches in, it’s just wonderful. We feel their support behind our mission to protect the children. We are very appreciative of our community,” Wood said.
