American Heritage Girls Coming To Zanesville

A new scout troop will soon make it’s debut in Zanesville.

Meadow Farm Church on Coopermill Road will be the new home for a local chapter of the American Heritage Girls. Girls ages 5 to 18 are able to join the troop. The scout troop is similar to Girl Scouts of America but with one small difference.

"We wanted to do something that was faith based and American Heritage Girls brings in the faith based component," said Troop Leader Christine Hampp.

Meadow Farm wanted to provide an option for Christian girls to participate in scouts without compromising their religion. Any denomination is welcome to join the troop. On Saturday the church hosted a carnival to cover the expenses of starting the troop. Many members of the church turned out to support it’s new endeavor.

"The church has been wonderful they provide donations for us and they provide help, there’s a lot of people helping from the church so it brings something for everyone," said Hampp.

Those interested in joining may contact Meadow Farm Church at (740) 452-4954.
