An Area Vocational Center Going Green and Creating Jobs

An area vocational center is going green and it’s providing jobs to the disabled.

PerCo Inc. in Perry County cut the ribbon Friday  and opened up their greenhouse. Director of PerCo Ron Spung says its exciting to be bring more jobs to the people in the community with disabilities.

"In this particual job they are picking, the marketing, also some of the cropping, stringing, planting, and watering. There are just so many steps into this green house but we’re really excited about having that opportunity," Spung said.

Not only is it bringing jobs but it’s preserving the community and will hopefully bring in money with the selling of the tomatoes as well.

"It’s been developed by people who care. It’s not just a business it’s an adventure and it’s an adventure with people with disabilities. The program that we have is just one of those spring boards for us to do many other things and we have great ideas for the future," Spung said.

Spung said the green house is only at half capacity right now they hope to have it to full capacity by the end of the year.
