Animal Shelter Society gets creative help from 14-year-old painter
ZANESVILLE, OH- A new partnership is bringing color and compassion to the Animal Shelter Society during National Adopt a Cat Month.
The shelter has teamed up with 14-year-old painter Lila Gibson, whose local business, Paint The Town, decorates storefront windows with creative seasonal designs.
“I really love just painting in general, I just love to do the artwork, and I think it’s really fun to do,” said Lila Gibson.
Shelter staff hope the colorful window art and discounted rates will help more cats find loving homes this summer.
“With it being national adopt a cat month and us having over 100 cats here in our care, you know we adopt out 15, we take 20 back in, we have specials going on, six months and older is 35 dollars, and under six months is 45, and what Lila is going to do also for the shelter is an additional 5 dollars off each adoption,” said April Gibson, Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society.
Also, with temperatures expected to climb into the 90s this week, the shelter is also reminding pet owners to keep animals cool with plenty of water and shade.
