Animal Shelter Society launches $10 microchip special for dogs and cats
ZANESVILLE, OH- The Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville is kicking off a new volunteer campaign with help from Jared Reynolds Insurance Group.
The shelter, which is 100% non-profit, relies heavily on volunteers. Jared Reynolds Insurance is helping launch the effort, but the shelter is encouraging the wider community to get involved. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, and applications are available on the shelter’s website under the volunteer tab.
“July 4th, we love it, our independence, no one likes it greater than us and myself here at the shelter, one of the things that we don’t like is the fireworks and the hardships that it causes on some of these animals, so they’re scared, so we’re going to offer microchips, regular price is $25, we’re going to do $10 starting today up until next Wednesday the 3rd, we are closed Sunday and Tuesday so keep that in mind, we are going to be offering that for dogs and cats,” said Animal Shelter Society Executive Director April Gibson.
In addition to volunteering, the shelter is offering a microchip special. Jared Reynolds Insurance is covering the cost of the first 20 microchips, making them free. After that, microchips will be available for $10. No appointment is needed. Dogs must be on a leash or harness, and cats in carriers.
“I remember one day my dog got out and if it wasn’t for his collar who knows where he would’ve been running off to, so we are very fortunate to give back and have the opportunity like this so if a dog does get lost, owners can be retrieving their animals here,” said Jared Reynolds, Jared Reynolds Insurance Owner.
The Animal Shelter Society will be closed for customer service July 3 through July 6.
