Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Judy!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week can be a shy girl but she can also pull a Houdini.
Meet Judy! She’s a 1-year-old Pekingese-Pomeranian mix who’s spay, up to date on her vaccinations, and is searching for a palace to call home.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter, says her prior owners found out that she enjoys running which can cause her to be an escape artist.
“She would be a really good pet for just about any household.” Gibson said. “You just want to make sure you’re outside with her, she really likes to go out for walks; but rumor has it, if she can get through the door you might be chasing a pup down through the neighborhood, so you just want to be aware of that.”
The Animal Shelter has also been very busy with all of their fundraisers this year.
Gibson says they have hosted more this year than ever before, all to help the over 100 animals in their care.
She says they’re gearing up for two fan favorites with the first being in June and the second in July.
“So we have our, the last Feral Felines of the Season on June 27th there at the Tiny Tap Tavern. The Densmore’s have done amazing things and their staff and the volunteers. We had no idea when we brought this to Zanesville, started planning this in September, that we would have what we have and we’re very fortunate.” Gibson said. “Our 8th Annual Putt 4 Paws is coming up on July 18th, it’s hard to believe it’s been 8 years since Josh Agin brought this to the board. He’s done an amazing job and Steve Galloway from Green Valley Golf course is the one who takes care of us with this.”
