ZANESVILLE, OH – This week, the Animal Shelter Society is proud to feature not just one, but five charming dogs as their Pets of The Week. Each of these adorable canines is searching for a loving forever home.

Introducing Hollow, a one-year-old female hound and basset spaniel mix with a sweet disposition. Ruger, a lively two-year-old male terrier pit bull mix. Peter, a playful one year old male terrier mix. Blackjack, a friendly two-year-old male retriever and black lab mix. And last but not least, there’s Dexter, a charming seven-month-old male terrier mix. These delightful dogs are all friendly and eager to become loving members of their new families.

“These dogs have been here for at least a year and that’s really unfortunate. A lot of them have the pit mix and there’s kind of some negativity towards that breed. But these are really good dogs. We have one dog that’s been here for almost two years and that’s just very unfortunate.” Animal Shelter Society Executive Director, April Gibson said.

Next week marks the beginning of Earth Week, and the Animal Shelter Society has partnered with Muskingum Iron and Metal to launch an eco-friendly initiative that benefits the planet and local pets. A rollback container will be placed in the shelter’s lot, inviting community members to drop off their aluminum cans.

“Again, this year we’ve partnered up with Muskingum Iron and Metal. That group is absolutely fantastic with what they do for our community. They’re going to bring in a rollback and you’re going to see it in our lot for the next week. Bring your aluminum cans. Bring them in. That helps our animal shelter, and we are very thankful for the folks at Muskingum Iron and Metal for another great year.” Gibson said.
