Annual C-Day event: Sucess

The Jaycee’s teamed up with the Salvation Army for their annual C-Day event this morning.

People all over Muskingum County donated their belongings that they no longer need such as clothing, furniture, toys and even canned goods. The Jaycee’s collected the items and brought them to the Salvation Army where the Salvation Army sorted through the donations to help find them a new home. The Salvation Army Shelter Manager, Karen Walker said the goods are needed in many locations.

"Our role is to receive all the items at the salvation army and the disperse them to those that are in need, whether we’re going to use them at Christmas time or, if we have items that we can give to our families that are moving into housing or in the emergency shelter we will do so."

Walker says that these donations are so gracious, especially at this time of year.

"I mean it’s just absolutely awesome when you think about Christmas and you think about giving, this is the meaning of it. These individuals who are giving today, are giving from their heart and it is so important, you know. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in every day things that we forget just that little item can make a difference for somebody else. And at the Salvation Army, we just see that the smallest item, what it can do and change somebody else’s life."

If you missed the annual C-Day event, you can always bring your donations directly to the Salvation Army.
