Annual Free Stuff Giveaway

One local church is holding a Free Stuff Giveaway in an effort to fulfill community needs.

Volunteers from North Terrace Church of Christ worked countless hours filling tables with clothing, shoes, electronics and other necessities for Saturday’s big event. The giveaway started out as a small event for kids going back to school, but Lead Minister, Matt Mehaffey said over the years it’s expanded into so much more.

“It’ll be a couple thousand people streaming through our church tomorrow to pick up anything that’s free, we have some larger items, some household items, and just lots and lots of clothes for kids and adults and things like that,” Mehaffey said.

Church and community members generously donated a variety of items and everything is free. Mehaffey said the giveaway is one of the biggest events the church puts on all year.

“It’s a very well-known event, people know this is a place they can drop off their stuff and our church has really taken on this niche thing, that we’ve really enjoyed, it’s a great way to help serve the needs in our community, one of our values is one more need met, so we see thousands of people coming in and we just go that’s another need met, that’s another need met,” Mehaffey said.

The event is open to the public and starts Saturday at 9 a.m. with church gates opening at 7:30.
