Apple Season Ripe, Ready for Consumers

With the fall season here, there’s no better time to sink your taste buds into a good crisp apple.

Paul’s Farm Market Co-Owner Terry Paul says some of the apples are ready as early as the 4th of July but the best ones most people prefer are ready to be picked now.

"There’s 6 or 8 good crisp apples right now that people are heavy into buying. Of course, there’s the Mcintosh and grinds that people cook with. We even have the Granny Smith. I still have some of the trees that are somewhat of a tart apple but they are favorites of a lot of people," said Paul.

Paul says with the heat and rain we saw earlier this summer, it overall helped make for a good harvest in the end.

"It all begins with that bloom early in the year with pollination. The bees are out and there is always a shortage of honey bees but there’s a lot of different bees that seem to be doing a lot of pollination along with the air and wind," said Paul..

Paul’s Farm Market is off of State Route 60 past Dietz Lane and features a variety of locally grown crops.
