Area Residents Gather to say Goodbye to a Local Landmark

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – As the walls to a local landmark start to come down, dozens of area residents gather to say their final goodbyes.
Spectators are welcome to view the demolition of the Good Samaritan Hospital building. Many people pass by and take photos while others are watching from afar in their vehicles.
"It’s kind of sad in a way. It’s been here a long time," said Larry Seevers. "You always wonder in your mind if there were something they could’ve done with this hospital more then just tear it down."
Brad Newell parks his car behind the hospital and sits with his radio to watch the demo throughout the week. He said he thinks the building could have been put to better use for people in need.
"I think it’s sad that their tearing it down but, I know it’s old I feel they should have left it to the veterans," said Brad Newell.
Local residents are welcome to continue watching the demolition as long as they stay in the designated parking area off of Hazel Ave. between Laurel and Forest.
