ArtCOZ’s Artist of the Month: Kallia Manika

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Paintings and jewelry artwork are the creations of the Artist Colony of Zanesville’s Artist of the Month.
Kallia Manika is a dual member of both ZAAP and the Artist Colony of Zanesville. Her artwork involves mixed media on canvases and making jewelry such as rings, necklaces, and custom made pieces. She is very passionate about incorporating abstract artwork into leather as well.
“Feels incredible. I was really excited because it’s a really good feeling, and it was really nice to be Artist of the Month,” said Manika.
Manika’s artwork is inspired by everyday life and color. She said being from Greece creates a different view of life for her and art is her outlet. She also said her work is generated from her emotions.
“I’m an emotional painter. So I can paint anything and everything. I usually, my process is I will think of an idea that I want to paint. Freedom, love, power. And in the moment how I feel, do I want to do realism, do I want to do abstract? And it’s a marriage of many things,” she mentioned.
You can find Manika’s work on Friday for the First Friday Art Walk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Gallery 102 at the Masonic Temple.
