Arthur Kettner Receives Artist’s Award

A Zanesville artist is being recognized for his talent in pottery, ceramics and sculpture.

Arthur Kettner is the recipient of the 2011 Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Art Endowment Fund Artist’s Award.  Arthur was unable to attend Friday night’s ceremony at the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project gallery, but his wife Amy accepted the award on his behalf.  She said this isn’t the first time Arthur has been honored by the art community.

"He was in the very first Y-Bridge Arts Festival, and he won first place in ceramics," said Amy.  He’s been a big supporter of the Y-Bridge Arts Festival ever since.  He thinks it’s great to bring artists into the community."

The award is presented in memory of Ronna Bucci, a young artist, and Dr. Dietz, the longtime Director of the Zanesville Art Center.  Arthur received a $500 grant to further his career as an artist.

"He sought out to purchase a membership at ZAAP," said Amy.  "It’s difficult on our family budget to justify expenses like that."

Amy said her husband also plans to design a new ceramic installation using bees to symbolize community.
