ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Secrest Summer Concert Series is over but Mayor Don Mason is already looking ahead to next year’s.

The free summer concert series outside of the Secrest Auditorium concluded Thursday with a performance by the Ohio based country band, North to Nashville. With this summers series wrapped up, Mason has already started thinking about how to improve next year.

“What we’re looking at doing next year is maybe adding a show in September, as you could say, due to popular demand,” Mason said. “But, we’re also looking at sort of, maybe, moving our time frames around. What we’re trying to do is give enough time for people to get home from work, change, feed their children or whatever and then come downtown. But yeah, try to get done early enough in the evening that it does not completely disrupt, you know, the home life when you’re trying to get everybody settled down and ready for bed.”

Mason credits some success of the Secrest Summer Concert Series to Zanesville’s business community who sponsors the concerts. These sponsorships are part of how the concerts are free to the public.

“We’ve been so pleased with the business community just rallying around the programs,” Mason said. “It’s been interesting that normally after our first show, we’ll have people contact us saying ‘how can I help sponsor?’ Matter of fact, this year, the afternoon of the North to Nashville show we actually had a business contact us saying ‘hey, we’d like to get involved in this.'”

If you would like to get involved and help with next years concert series, you can reach out to the mayors office or the marketing team at the Secrest Auditorium.
