ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Auditor’s Office is working on an upgrade, and they updated the County Commissioners on what will be needed.

The upgrades will be utilized for the Auditor’s budgetary payroll and HR applications. This includes new servers, desktops, and software. The upgrades would allow for more efficiency and accuracy within the Auditor’s Office.

“Just preliminary research right now for pricing for scanning systems and computer systems,” said Director of Information Services for Muskingum County, Dan Long.

Long also said the main priority is to update the servers because security is of greatest importance.

“With older server platforms you have security flaws, security holes. You just want to make sure that everything is tightened up. You couple that with antivirus software and network security appliances that basically help maintain the health of a network,” he explained.

The Auditor’s Office’s goal is to have the new core server systems up and running by the end of Spring, and the desktop systems by early fall.
