Average Gas Prices At Lowest Since 2010

If you’re a car owner, now is the best time to fill up that gas tank.

The average price of regular gasoline in the U.S. Has dropped twelve cents over the past two weeks. According to a national survey this is the lowest cost since November, 2010. Nationally the average has reached as low as $2.72 but here in Zanesville prices could be seen as low as $2.37 on December, 9th.

"No, I remember when it was like mid three’s," said Marathon customer Christian Ross. "That’s why I got gas, I saw how low it was and figured i’d take advantage of it."

Lundberg Survey Inc. attributed some of the dramatic drop to a spike in crude oil production in North America. Other factors could include a slowdown in demand for gas, and the strengthening of the U.S. dollar. Compared to other major currencies the dollar is now at its highest value since 2006.

"Well a stronger dollar allows us to import at a cheaper price," said another Marathon customer, Michael Daskavitz

Gas prices fluctuate rapidly so make sure you fill up your tank as often as possible while the prices are so low. This could save you valuable shopping money during the holiday season.
