Balderson Talks about Security

The aftermath of last Saturday’s shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords continues.

Representatives at both the national and state level spend time in the public meeting with different groups and voters. Ohio House Representative Troy Balderson said the Arizona shootings won’t affect how he conducts business.

"We’re far removed, but I don’t want to drop our guard about being far removed," explained Rep. Balderson. "Yes, we area a small community and we know the people that we interact with, so we have a point where we have to watch we don’t drop our guard."

Balderson said every politician is aware that being in the public eye is part of the job.

"When I signed up for this position I knew I was going to be out and about and in front of people," Balderson. "There are going to be threats sometimes for the votes that I make. I know that and I’m aware of that."

The Ohio State House in Columbus is becoming a safer place. Balderson said about three weeks ago more security measures were put into place which includes having a few more State Troopers in the building.
