Beat the Heat with Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl
National Ice Cream Month is coming to a close, but it’s not too late to celebrate.
Zanesville is home to one of the most famous scoop shops in the country, Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl. Tom’s is famous for its homemade ice cream, and celebrates National Ice Cream Month with fresh flavors and new creations.
“We’re doing seasonal flavors during June, July and August and our seasonal flavors are pretty popular, and right now we have about 35 different flavors, so we’re at our peak with ice cream,” said Owner, Bill Sullivan. “Vanilla cherry chocolate chunks, we have chocolate caramel marshmallow fudge, we have raspberry grand, and lime sherbet.”
As temperatures continue to rise, residents are beating the heat with Tom’s cold tasty treats. Tom’s enjoys experimenting with new flavors, but Sullivan said it’s the traditional favorites that continue to bring locals back.
“Our ice cream is made here, right here on location, we use 14 percent butter-fat mix and we use different flavors, plus our standby recipes we’ve had here forever, we still use those old recipes that we used years and years ago and that’s one thing people really like,” he said.
Tom’s has been serving the community fresh homemade ice cream for over 60 years.
