Benefit to Help Local Man after Car Accident Survival

On August 22 Zanesville man Austin Devolld’s life changed in the time it took to hit his brakes.

He was on his way to his girlfriends home traveling down State Route 13 when he was struck by a Jeep and suffered extensive injuries.

‘I have a broken ankle, a fractured tibia,” said DeVolld. “I have hardware in that. I had to have that surgically repaired. My right wrist was broken in two spots. The radius bone was crushed so I have a plate, three pins, and a screw in there. My ulna was broken but it was just a light break so there just kind of letting it do its thing. The hand was dislocated and the ulna was fractured on this arm. It has a plate and seven pins in it and I actually split my elbow open. I think it hit the window or something. ”

His family is raising money to help Devolld get through the uncertain amount of time before he can return to work as he can’t walk. He said that the accident has changed his outlook and he’s happy to have support from family and friends in this time of need.

“It’s definitely an eye opener,” said Devolld. “It’s crazy, you know someone’s just driving down the road, the next thing you know, life’s changed in the blink of an eye. Eventually I’ll get back to normal. It’s not something real life threatening or real serious but it does open your eyes up a lot. ”

The benefit at Oilers Bar included a live, and Chinese auction, as well as half and half raffles and a spaghetti dinner. If you would like to donate to Austin’s cause there is also a go-fund-me page in his name and an account at Century National Bank.
