Benji Seeks Unconditional Love as This Week’s Adorable Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week, the spotlight shines bright on Benji, the Animal Shelter Society’s Pet of the Week.

Benji is a delightful 7-year-old yorkie poodle mix who is eager to show off his playful antics and loving nature to potential families looking for a new member to love. He’s an affectionate and happy little guy, and like all the other pets at the shelter, Benji is neutered and vaccinated, ensuring he’s ready to start his new life healthy and safe.

“Benji does very well. He’s very social. He doesn’t mind cats or other dogs. He just wants to be in someone’s home and for them to love him. He doesn’t have a problem going in cars, he doesn’t mind baths, he’s just a really cool little dog,” Animal Shelter Society Executive Director April Gibson said.

As the calendar flips to April 8th, not only humans but their furry companions are in for a celestial treat. During the solar eclipse, the sudden change from daylight to darkness might confuse our four-legged friends, and they might need a little extra love and attention during this extraordinary event.

“When we see that darkness coming, we want to go into that night mode. That’s what your animals are going to do. It’s not dangerous, there’s been concerns about them looking up at the sun. That’s not so much what we’re concerned about. Just know there’s going to be a little bit of a different attitude with them. They’re not going to understand why everybody else isn’t going to bed when they want to,” Gibson said.
