Beverly Wins Legion Tournament
All St. Clairsville needed to do was win one game to be declared winners of this year’s Legion Tournament at Jay Payton Field.
However, Beverly Lowell had other ideas.
During the first game Saturday afternoon. St. Clairsville took an early 2-0 lead in the fourth inning.
Beverly Lowell would tie the game at 3 with a sacrifice fly by Mike Bauman in the 8th inning.
The next batter Mason Lang would hit a sac grounder to score a run and take the lead 4-3 and force a game two in the double elimination tournament.
The second game also belonged to Beverly Lowell who took at 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with a hit to left field from Donald Hilverding that scored Trey Engle.
St. Clairsville would tie the game at 3 with a sacrifice grounder from Jared Clovis that drives in a run.
But, in the bottom of the 5th Beverly Lowell’s Tyler Procter singles to left score Evan Brockmeir and give them the lead 43.
Beverly Lowell would go on to win 6-3 and the tournament.
