Bids open for Cannelville Road bridge project

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Bids are under the county commissioner’s review for the Cannelville Road bridge project.
The bridge, located near state Route 555 on Cannelville Road, was deemed to need a full replacement by the Muskingum County Engineer’s Office.
The replacement totes an estimated price tag of nearly a half-million dollars.
“We had two companies that submitted bids today, Shelly & Sands and Double Z Construction,” said Matt Russell, Administrative Deputy with the Muskingum County Engineer’s Office.
Russell said the bids range from $455,000 to $506,000. Their estimate for the project was $475,000.
An estimated completion date has been set for 60 days after the contract is awarded and signed. Russell asked for the community’s understanding during the process.
“Just be patient. There’s going to be some detours for the project and its the price of progress, price of getting a newer bridge there, a safer newer bridge,” said Russell.
The bids will remain under advisement of the Muskingum County Commissioners for approximately one week. The engineer’s office will receive an award recommendation from the commissioner’s once they make a decision.
