Big Band Concert Graces Zane’s Landing

Something big was happening in Zanesville August 9.

The Schubach Big Band that is. They hosted their free concert at Zane’s Landing Park. Band Director David Schubach said the big band style is a unique musical experience.

“It’s very unique in that this instrumentation meshes extremely well,” said Schubach. “The five saxes, four trombones, four trumpets gives a blend that is like no other. It gets four part harmony in each section and then the rhythm section: piano, bass, and drums, keeps the beat. ”

The concert features two solo vocalists. Abby Gus and Chuck Gilliespie took center stage with the 17 piece band. Schubach Big Band is busy making plans for more performances this year following the show.
