Birdies for Life registration

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local golf course is holding ‘Birdies for Life’, which is a golf outing to end cancer.
Vista Golf Course and American Cancer Society are holding their first ‘Birdies for Life’ event and are asking local businesses and community members to gather up teams of four players to play a scramble format. Vista’s General Manager Casey Lepi said pre-registration sales will be fifty dollars per player.
“Recently we’ve had a lot of patrons that have passed from cancer,” said Lepi. “You know it’s an ugly thing and we’re going to do anything in our power here at [Vista Golf Course] and with the help of American Cancer Society to fight this the best we can. We want everybody to register soon, early. So we can get these teams out here and help the American Cancer Society fight this battle for everyone.”
Vista found the best way to fight cancer was to hold the golf outing and have the proceeds go straight to the American Cancer Society. Community Development Manager Amanda Hickerson said this will help American Cancer Society to fund research, support families touched by cancer, and help those battling cancer feel comfortable.
“Events like this is what brings awareness and education to the community,” Hickerson said. “American Cancer Society is all about teaching people healthy lifestyles, proactive testing, and anything for us to be able to get the word out there with events like this is helpful.”
‘Birdies for Life’ is July 28, 2017 with registration at 11:00 A.M. and tee off at noon. Registration costs will cover 18 holes, a cart, snacks, and lunch. There will also be prizes given to the first and second place teams.
