Bishop Rosecrans High School Hosts 23rd Annual Christmas on the Hill

Students from a local high school are paying it forward.

This is the 23rd year for Christmas on the Hill at Bishop Rosecrans High School. Students at Rosecrans decided to think less of themselves and more about the less fortunate.

“We adopt kids from different are organizations,” said Basketball Coach, Todd Rock. “This year we’ll be right around 80 children that we buy for. The students met them. Then they go out and shop for them. And today Santa will be here to present the gifts. We also have another part of it this year, where we went to area supermarkets. We took care of about 20 people’s groceries for Christmas. It was a real moving situation.”

Coach Rock said it’s important to give back to the community.

“We want to continue the tradition of just helping people out in the community that needs help. This year we had several families come forward and make donations that we helped one time in their lives. And now they’ve made it. They have careers or they have businesses they want to donate back. And that was really special,” said Rock.

Coach Rock said he enjoys seeing the looks on his student’s faces just as much as the children receiving the gifts.
