Black History Program at St. Paul A.M.E. Church

Black History Program

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – St. Paul A.M.E. Church hosted an event today in honor of Black History Month.

The event is a celebration of African-American heritage. Pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Reverend Marjorie McDaniel, said this provides an opportunity to teach the youth about African-American history and to learn more about where they came from.

“As an opportunity to inform our youth as to who we are, and what we need to look forward to in the future,” she said.

The event included a service of prayers, dancers, singers, satin strings, and even the cast from “Once Upon a Christmas” participated. McDaniel said it took them several months to put the whole program together.

“A lot of people have no idea as to where we come from or who we are. So today we just wanted to do some reenactments just to give some information about us as a people,” she added.

The offerings and donations from the event was given to Christ’s Table where $1000 was raised.
