Blackhand State Nature Preserve Closure
Licking County- Four trails and three visitors parking lots will close next month at Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve.
The closure will take place November 18. The year-long construction project includes the permanent repair of three significantly eroded sites along the 4-mile paved trail. In addition to the paved trail closure the Quarry Rim, Buttonbrush Swamp and Chestnut Trails will also close.
The trailhead parking lots located at Toboso Road, Brownsville Road and Brushy Fork Road will also be closed during construction.
Two trails at the state nature preserve will remain open, the Marie Hickey and Canal Locks trails. Pets are strictly prohibited on these two trails.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the Blackhand Gorge website for updated alerts during construction as areas of the preserve may open or close temporarily throughout the next year.
