Block Party Brings in Large Crowd
It was another successful year for the Neighborhood Block Party in downtown Zanesville.
Central Trinity United Methodist Church, Union Baptist, Immanuel Church of Christ and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran, all united for a day of fun and celebration. Central Trinity Lead Pastor, Steven Fewell, said the beautiful weather brought in a large crowd.
“We hope to make this a long standing tradition, this is only our second year, and we want to see if we can do this for many years, we are downtown churches and we want to be a resource for our neighbors who live within blocks of our churches,” Fewell said.
The churches treated the community to live music, games, and even tennis, but it was a lemonade stand that was the main attraction on the hot, summer day. Face painting and a fire truck tour were big hits among the kids.
“We’ve got some wonderful music, some gospel music, some country music, and we have games, and art for the kids, face painting, a lot of good times.,” he said.
Fewell said the best part of the event is all of the churches coming together to give back, despite their differences.
